Scope

The Symposium will continue the series of forums which were held every third year since 1971. Started as a Conference on Plasma and Instabilities, in 1992 it was converted to the International Symposium on Ultrafast Phenomena in Semiconductors.

Geographically located in Vilnius, it continues the tradition to be a place of exchange of ideas between the West and East. The scientific interest of the Symposium covers ultrafast quantum phenomena in solid states, semiconductors and nanoscale systems. It also includes neighboring fields like terahertz and information technologies, superconductivity and new materials.

In two-days-long Tutorial Session (free of charge) preceding the Symposium is adapted to students, PhD students and young scientists. The lectures will be given by leading and internationally well-known scientists on new topics in advanced materials and their application in ultrafast/terahertz-related technologies.

SECOND ANOUNCEMENT

Venue

The Symposium will be held in Vilnius, the historical capital of Lithuania, founded in 1323. The city boasts of its Old Town, which is an urban district of tremendous historic and cultural. In 1994 the Old Town was inscribed by UNESCO in the World Heritage list (http://www.vilnius.lt)

Main Topics

The scope of the present Symposiums relies on the following main topics:
  1. High-speed optoelectronics
  2. Nanostructures and quantum phenomena
  3. Terahertz technology
  4. Hot electrons and noise in microdevices materials for high-speed electronics

List of presentation

Dear participants of the 12-UFPS
Manuscript of the paper cannot exceed 8-pages for invited presentation, 4-pages for oral and poster presentation. We have prepared a guide-page where we have summarized some important points how to prepare the manuscript for publication in Acta Physica Polonica (A) (template). As the main guide we have used http://info.ifpan.edu.pl/ACTA/guide.html. During registration the authors will be asked to submit two copies of the manuscript with figures on separate pages and electronic version of the paper in LaTex or MS Word.
